DESCRIPTION:Hill Auditorium is an iconic part of U-M’s campus\, but it is much more than just a site for musical performances and university events. Since its opening a century ago it has hosted a wide array of speeches\, concerts and protests both welcomed and opposed by members of the university community. Join us to hear from the Inclusive History Project’s Hill Auditorium Research Team as they share their discoveries\, future plans\, and the ongoing struggle to make Hill truly an auditorium “For Everyone.” \n  \nRefreshments will be provided.

SUMMARY:Walking Tour: Invisible to Indispensable: Black Legacies at Michigan
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Black History Month with a special wintertime walking tour exploring the stories that have shaped the African American experience at the University of Michigan. We’ll learn about the pioneering students who redefined what it meant to belong at U-M and visit the places where campus social movements like the Black Action Movement and #BBUM coalesced.   \nGuided walking tour developed and led by student docents from the Judy and Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory. Duration: 1.5 hours; 1.4 miles. \nMeet at the steps of the Hatcher Graduate Library on the Diag. \nTour will take place in rain or snow\, but will be cancelled for severe weather (registrants will be notified via email). \nRegistration required. \nDeveloped with support from the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies.
